LSP Chair Thakur registers nomination for National Assembly seat

The 82-year-old leader submitted his nomination on Thursday at the National Assembly Election Officer’s office in Janakpur, Madhesh Province.

JANAKPURDHAM, Jan 7: Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) Chair Mahanta Thakur has officially registered his nomination for a National Assembly seat.



The 82-year-old leader submitted his nomination on Thursday at the National Assembly Election Officer’s office in Janakpur, Madhesh Province.

Thakur’s proposers include LSP provincial member Jayanul Rain and the province’s Minister of Education Rani Sharma Tiwari.


According to Election Officer Subhas Babu Puri, the electoral college for the seat consists of 104 provincial assembly members and 266 local-level voters.


Following Thakur’s nomination, LSP leader Sharat Singh Bhandari said the party coordinated with the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress to field the candidacy on that basis.


The Election Office also stated that a total of four candidates have filed nominations for the four vacant National Assembly seats in Madhesh Province.
