In the program, Regional Administrator of Mid-Western Region, Sharada Prasad Trital promised to solve the problem faced by the people of the region. “There might be disagreement among people on other issues, but there is no choice for them other than to come together on the issue of development and prosperity of the place they live in,” Trital said.
Former parliamentarian, Mangal BK said development of the district was impossible until people abandoned their dependent mentality. “The district is yet to open its door to the development because we are waiting for outsiders to come here with projects. It´s high time we changed that mentality,” said BK.
District Treasurer of Nepali Congress Govinda Koirala said media should focus to enhance unity among the people, emphasizing on the issue of changes and historical recognition.
CPN UML district member Kulmani Devkota was of the opinion that all the stakeholders should seriously work together to find a permanent solution to the drinking water problem in the Surkhet valley. CPN-Maoist secretary Thammar Bista suggested that all the political parties should stop the blame game and start afresh for the cause of change and prosperity.
Stating that mere discussion on the development issue is of no use, the chief editor of The Nagarik daily, Kishor Nepal, who facilitated the public hearing, asked the people to come forward with a plan and vision for the development of the district.
Police chief of Mid-Western Region, Deputy Inspector General Tapendra Dhwaj Hamal, Chief District Officer Purushottam Kunwar, and the representatives of various political parties participated in the program.
