Police fire warning shots in Sarlahi

SARLAHI, Dec 21: Police on Monday fired bullets in the air as the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) protestors turn violent.

The protestors vandalized government offices and police posts prompting police action.Protestors were staging protests demanding release of Federal Socials Forum Nepal District Chairman Ashok Yadav.

The protestors torched District Water Supply Office and Woman and Children Office in the district headquarters, Malangawa.

The bullets were fired in the air to contain the situation, DSP Ramesh Kumar Khadka said. The police fired few rounds of tear gas too, he added.

The irate protestors even torched a police van (Ba 1 Jha 6453) in Jibisa Chowk, Sarlahi and tried to torch District Court and District Development Office.
