They were arrested from different places in Pokhara for fleecing the public over a long time, said Superintendent of Police (SP) in Kaski district Shailesh Thapa Chhetri. He accused them of duping the people in name of alternative treatments by putting doctor title in front of their names. [break]
The 10 were presented at the District Administration Office (DAO) later on the day for action as per the anti-corruption law. They have been detained at the District Police Office for the night as the DAO could not complete recording statements.
SP Thapa said the arrested practitioners were chairman, vice-chairman, treasurer, general secretary, secretary, joint-secretary and other office bearers of Yog Natural and Alternative Medical Council.
He said the arrested practitioners had confessed they had not completed any course from a valid institution for the title of medical doctor during preliminary investigations.
Police had initially arrested 14 on a on a tip-off, but two of them turned out to be genuine doctors while the other two were just operators of natural medical centers.
