KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has asked Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala for his help to move the stalled peace process ahead.

PM Bhattarai asked for NC´s cooperation in giving momentum to the peace process during a meeting held at Koirala´s residence in Maharajgunj Monday morning. [break]

On the occasion, the NC president expressed his displeasure over Maoists´ handling of the peace process.

"You (Maoists) are in power. All mechanisms are on your hands," a source quoted Koirala as telling Bhattarai, "and now you are complaining. You need to mend your ways."

The NC president also expressed his discontent over the government decision to legalize land transactions carried out by the ´people´s government´ during insurgency.

It is, however, learnt that the two leaders have agreed to work in tandem on the peace process after consulting with other leaders of the major political parties.

A day earlier, PM Bhattarai had also held informal talks with NC Vice-chairman Ram Chandra Paudel and senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.
