KATHMANDU, June 7: Major political parties say they are close to a deal on state restructuring.
The meeting of top-notch leaders of four major parties at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Sunday morning focused on state restructuring.

Emerging from the meet, Chairman of Madheshi People’s Rights Forum Bijay Kumar Gachhadar said the discussions were held on forming six or eight provinces.
“Agreement has been reached on other contentious issues,” he said, “Parties are nearing to accord on federalism too.”
He added the meeting was put off till 6 pm this evening for parties to hold internal discussions on the federal models.
“The new statute will be promulgated on an agreement as all parties have concluded that the new constitution should be enforced at the soonest,” he claimed.
