Paleti is a micro event musical series that first began in 2005. Organized by nepa~laya, the series is known for reintroducing artists of yesteryears.
“Paleti is an attempt to resurrect Nepali Adhunik music and its audience” expressed maestro Ambar Gurung.
“What started as a micro event series at nepathya’s rehearsal studio has now gained a momentum of a campaign to promote Nepali Adhunik Sangeet,” said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of nepa~laya.

Alongside the live musical events, Paleti also archives audio visuals of the performing artistes. As in the past, Paleti hasn’t limited to singers only from Nepal for there have been performers from Darjeeling, Digboi, Manipur, Guwahati, Meghalaya, and Bhutan as well.
During her session at Paleti, composer and singer Shanti Thatal from Darjeeling had said, “Paleti has revitalized the musical relationship between Darjeeling and Kathmandu.”
Paleti till date has had more than 40 shows in the seven years, since its commencement.
Opening this season’s first episode, musician Aavaas also the coordinator of Paleti since its inception, will narrate his journey alongside Paleti singers Suraj and Meena who will sing songs from past episodes of Paleti.
“The first show will be a recap of the past 40 Paletis,” explained Aavaas. “After this show, Paleti will continue as a regular month’s last Friday event. We’ve already lined up the schedule for 2012 and we’re working on 2013,” he added.
Alongside the regular sit-in Paleti series at nepa~laya, the last season saw a tour entitled “Paleti Yatra with Ambar Gurung,” which went to three different cities in Nepal and to Beijing as well.
“With the resumption of Paleti, we’re all geared up to continue with Paleti Yatra as well,” said Kiran Shrestha. “At the completion of 10 years of nepa~laya’s involvement with Adhunik Music, we’re soon organizing a weekend celebration called Paleti Utsav during which four respected figures of Nepali music will be presented on a larger stage,” hinted Kiran.
