The announcement came after chiefs of all the opposition parties endorsed a draft of the protest program earlier prepared by a team of leaders from opposition parties.[break]
As per the protest program, the opposition parties will hold an interaction with civil society members on November 17 and a discussion on budget with economic experts, industrialist and business entrepreneurs on November 20.
Likewise, the parties will hold a joint mass meet in the capital on November 23 and gatherings of their cadres in districts across the country.
On November 30, they are scheduled to stage two-hour sit-in programs in front of district administration offices nationwide. Likewise, the parties are set to take out anti-government rallies and hold protest assemblies in fifteen districts, including Jhapa, Doti, Kanchanpur, Surkhet, Sunsari Palpa, Baglung on December 14.
Nepali Congress will coordinate the protest programs in Jhapa, Saptari, Kaski, Dang, Parsa, Surkhet and Kanchanpur while Sunsari, Chitwan, Palpa, Baglung, Doti, Jumla, Sindhuli and Kathmandu’s programs will be handled by UML.
The protest programs aims at unseating the incumbent government and pave path for formation of consensus government which would in turn hold election by mid-April and unveil budget.
Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Pashupati Shumsher Rana and Rastriya Janashakti Party Chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa, among others, signed the draft today.
