One dead, four injured in Jhapa road accident

The auto-rickshaw driver, Ajay Moktan, 53, of Buddha Shanti-4, succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.

JHAPA, Jan 20: A collision between a Bolero vehicle numbered (Pra 1-01-001 Ja 3851) and an auto-rickshaw numbered (Pra 1-01-002 Ha 363) on the Mechi Highway at Buddha Shanti Rural Municipality-4, Jhapa, left one person dead and four injured. The accident occurred at 10:50 am as the Bolero headed toward Ilam from Charali collided with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction.


The injured passengers include Kritika Tamang, 21, and Manju Tamang, 27, both from Buddha Shanti-4, along with Amrita Tamang, 40, of Mechinagar-12. All were rushed to City Hospital in Budhabare for treatment. Amrita Tamang, due to the severity of her injuries, was referred to the Provincial Hospital in Bhadrapur.

The auto-rickshaw driver, Ajay Moktan, 53, of Buddha Shanti-4, succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.


Police have impounded both vehicles and further investigations are underway.
