Officials discuss Nepal-India border issues

ITAHARI, July 6: A joint meeting of Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Sunsari, Saptari and Udayapur of Nepal and Supaul district of Bihar, India, concluded at the Baraha Brigade of the Armed Police Force in Sunsari on Friday.



During the meeting, both sides have agreed to exercise high alertness and join hands by the local administrations of both countries to reduce the damage caused by the Koshi River and repair the embankments along with the security of Koshi barrage. [break]



Similarly, the officials have agreed to conduct intensive discussions for complete implementation of the decisions made by a meeting held in Supaul.



Chief District Officer of Sunsari, Laxman Thapa, said that both countries have agreed to work with high alertness in view of the possible floods in Koshi River. They also discussed ways to conserve wildlife in Koshitappu Wildlife Reserve.



CDO Thapa said that the joint team has agreed to work in collaboration to combat criminal activities, smuggling, drug smuggling, girl trafficking and others held in Nepal-India border.



Chief District Officer of Saptari, Hariraj Panta, Chief District Officer of Udayapur, Prem Raj Luintel, Regional Chief of Irrigation Department Maniklal Shrestha and other stakeholders were present at the meeting.



Similarly, Chief of Supaul district Kumar Ravi, Chief of SSB DN Bambey and Engineer at Water Resource Department Rajesh Kumar and others represented the Indian team at the meeting.
