National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvraj Lama laid the foundation stone for the construction of a six-story building amidst a function at NTA headquarters, Satdobato. The building would be constructed at the cost of Rs 170 million on a five-ropani plot. [break]
NTA hopes to complete the construction work before the 13th South Asian Games (SAG), which Nepal Government has agreed to host. The SAG is organized every two years but India is yet to announce the date for the 12th SAG.
According to NTA Vice-president Sanjeev Regmi, the ground floor of the academy will have a lobby, dining hall, gymnasium hall and sauna rooms for men and women. The first floor will have four training halls. The second floor will have four classrooms, one lecture hall and as many training rooms. NTA secretariat will occupy the third floor while players´ hostel and training rooms will be in the fourth floor.
Two arenas, warm up hall, championship room and 200-seated parapet will be on the fifth floor. The sixth floor will have six VIP rooms and a parapet with a capacity of 600 people.
NTA has formed a nine-member committee to take forward the construction work under the leadership of its president Prakash SJB Rana.
“NTA has received Rs 4 million from Nepal Government. It will not be enough to start the initial construction work. We´ll collect funds for the academy and complete it before Nepal hosts the 13th South Asian Games,” said Deep Raj Gurung, NTA general secretary.
Meanwhile, NSC Member Secretary Lama said NSC would try to sanction some amount for the building while All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) President Ganesh Thapa announced to provide a financial assistance of Rs 100,000 individually for the project.
