KATHMANDU, Dec 3: The Election Commission (EC) has approved the schedule for the upcoming National Assembly election.
According to the approved timeline, the voters’ list will be published on January 3 from 10–11 AM. Claims, objections, and complaints regarding the list will be reviewed, and the final voter list will be published on January 6 from 3–4 PM.
EC begins preparations for Jan 25 National Assembly elections
Nomination papers for candidates must be filed on January 7 between 10 AM and 3 PM. Objections against candidates can be submitted on January 8 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Candidates may withdraw their nominations on January 11 from 10 AM to 1 PM, and the final list of candidates will be published between 1 PM and 2 PM the same day.
Election symbols will be distributed to candidates on January 12 between 10 AM and 1 PM by the respective election offices.
Voting will take place on January 24 from 9 AM to 3 PM at designated polling centers.
The terms of 19 National Assembly members will expire on March 4. Among them, Bamdev Gautam is a nominated member. Elections will be held to fill the remaining 18 seats.
According to the allocation, Koshi Province will elect three members; Madhesh four; Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim two each; and Lumbini three.
