JHAPA, June 22: An elderly woman has passed away due to snake bite in Gauriganj Rural Municipality-4, Baisetol of Jhapa. Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awale reported that 88-year-old Panchamaya Sherma from Gauriganj-4 Baisetol died after she was bitten by a venomous snake on Sunday evening.

While she was closing the door of the chicken coop, a snake emerged from a pile of bricks nearby and bit her right hand. Sherma sustained severe injuries from the snakebite and was promptly rushed to B &C Hospital in Birtamod for urgent medical care.
According to the police, she passed away during treatment last night.
