NIMA to launch mobile health camps for quake victims

KATHMANDU, May 27: Nepal-India Medical Association (NIMA) on Wednesday has announced to launch mobile health camps to prevent possible epidemics in the aftermath of the mega earthquakes.

Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters Club Nepal in the capital on Wednesday, the representatives of medical associations of both the countries said they will launch mobile health camps in view of the possible epidemics that will infect earthquake victims taking shelters in the temporary camps.


Dr Marthanda Pillai, President of the Indian Medical Association said they have already contributed over Rs 4 million for health services of the quake victims.

Besides, free health services have also been provided to the earthquake victims in the collaboration of Heath Care Foundation of India, Udhyog Development Foundation New Delhi and Indian Medical Association.

Meanwhile, Anjani Kumar Jha, President of Nepal Medical Association claimed that they have provided health services in good time.

He further said Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA), Japan has provided psycho-socio treatment for the quake victims worth around Rs 2.5 million.

At the program, the association has also made 7-point deal public which includes making health experts available for victims residing in relief camps, devising strategy in view of possible deceases that can break out in the rainy season, among others.
