KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Nepal claimed their second breakthrough in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup match against England, with fast bowler Nandan Yadav dismissing England captain Jos Buttler at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Nandan had Buttler caught behind by wicketkeeper Aasif Sheikh, delivering a major blow to England’s batting line-up. The wicket marked a significant moment for Nepal, as Buttler is widely regarded as one of the most destructive batters in T20 cricket.
Buttler not taking depleted Australia lightly
Playing his first ICC T20 World Cup match, Nandan has been included in the XI in place of experienced pacer Sompal Kami, who was rested for the opener. His dismissal of Buttler underlined Nepal’s confident start with the ball against the two-time world champions.
Earlier, Nepal had picked up their first wicket to apply early pressure on England, as the young bowling attack looked to make inroads against a star-studded batting order featuring Phil Salt and Harry Brook.
Nepal are featuring in the ICC T20 World Cup for the third time and are aiming to build on their recent strong performances against associate nations, having beaten the UAE and Canada in warm-up fixtures ahead of the tournament.
