New budget will focus on economic prosperity: Fin Min

KATHMANDU, March 3: Minister for Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that achieving economic prosperity will be the main thrust of the upcoming budget for Fiscal Year 2016/17.

Speaking at the meeting of Revenue Advisory Committee held at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Thursday, Poudel said: "We need to rise above the traditional mindset and give emphasis to economic prosperity of the country."He also said that new budget has to set base for economic prosperity as it will be the first budget announced under the new constitution. Informing that a common concept has been developed among all parties, Paudel said that the new budget will target high growth rate and economic prosperity."

Meanwhile, Paudel also underlined the need to prepare more practical and scientific Revenue Policy. "Raising problems alone will yield nothing. We all should work to find solution if there is any problem," he added.

The meeting was attended by Finance Secretary, Revenue Secretary and private sector representatives.
