NEPSE declines 10.07 points as daily turnover increases to Rs 3.29 billion

KATHMANDU, May 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined 10.07 points to close at 2,730.17 points.



The secondary market initially gained around 13 points to open for regular trading. The market went to a straight fall and reached as low as 2,724.02 points in the first 23 minutes. For the next over one hour, the index fluctuated moderately, while hitting the day’s low 2,717.69 points in the last one and a half hours. The market recovered around 13 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

Three sectors trading, life insurance and mutual funds were the gainers of 12.28 points, 1.73 points and 0.01 points, respectively. Of the 10 losers, manufacturing and processing had its index plunge by the largest of 59.87 points.


The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, decreased 0.34 points. Daily turnover however increased to Rs 3.29 billion from Rs 2.80 billion.


Among the individual companies, 80 were the gainers as 174 lost their charms for the investors. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 376.82 million.


Asian Hydropower Limited stood as the topmost loser of 9.89 percent. Union Hydropower Limited witnessed the highest gain of 11.25 percent in its market value.
