Organizing a press conference in the capital on Thursday, BDFA President Bhojraj Shahi said that the tournament will feature eight teams including three A division teams. "The A division teams to participate are yet to be confirmed but one departmental team and two non-departmental teams are likely to participate in the event," Shahi said.Besides, three A division teams, one team each of host, Far Western Region, Rupandehi and two teams from India are likely to compete in the tournament. Shahi further informed that Banke was planning to give continuity to the tournament in annual basis.
The winner and the runner up of the tournament will get Rs 151,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively. Similarly, the best players of each position and highest scorer will also be given prizes.
Meanwhile, BDFA also signed the title sponsorship with Yeti Cement during the same function. BDFA President Shahi and Yeti Cement Managing Director Sanjay Agrawal signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions. As per the agreement, Yeti Cement will provide Rs 600,000 to run the tournament.
After inking the deal, Agrawal said that the agreement would contribute in expanding market of the cement and also expressed commitment to support hosting the tournament in the upcoming year.
Speaking on the occasion, All Nepal Football Association CEO Indraman Tuladhar expressed commitment to provide financial assistance besides technical support for the tournament. "Though numerous tournaments are being organized in eastern parts of the country, there is no top-level tournament in the west. Thus, ANFA had asked BDFA to host the tournament in the western region and they took the initiation. The upcoming meeting of ANFA will decided about the amount of financial support required to run the tournament. We will also initiate to get further sponsor for the tournament," Tuladhar said.
