NEA signs PPA with Nyadi Hydropower

KATHMANDU, May 29: Nepal Electricity Authority has signed Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NHL) to purchase power generated by Nyadi Hydropower Project (30 MW).



NHL is a subsidiary of Butwal Power Company (BPC). According to a press release issued by BPC, NEA will pay Rs 4.80 to the developer for the energy in the wet season at Rs 8.4 per unit in dry season. The company will enjoy three percent escalation for eight years in the given rate.

The project's gestation period is of 30 years. It will have powerhouse at Bahundanda VDC of Lamjung and the electricity will be connected to the national grid through a proposed Marshyangdi Corridor transmission line of 132 kV. The project's estimated cost is US$ 59 million.


It is expected to start generation from December 2019.
