BHAKTAPUR, July 3: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gopal Man Shrestha said on Tuesday that the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) should be revived forging consensus among political parties in order to end the existing political impasse.

Talking at an interaction program organized by Rafat Sanchar Club in Bhaktapur, the NC leader argued that the CA should be revived as even major political parties UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML along with Prime Minister Bhattarai do not have any objection to the idea. [break]

He also accused PM Bhattarai and UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of pushing the country into uncertainty by dissolving the CA. The country is in a state of constitutional vacuum, Shrestha said, adding that there is no alternative to consensus to end the political deadlock.

The NC leader also demanded that caretaker PM Bhattarai step down to pave way for national consensus government. In the context of new budget, he expressed his view that the president should intervene if the government remains adamant on bringing in the new fiscal budget through ordinance.
