KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has issued circular to its district chapters not to burn copies of new constitution as it is unethical for law practitioners to indulge in such activities.

Over the past few days, some lawyers in Mahhotari and Bara districts of the Tarai region have burnt copies of the new constitution expressing dissatisfaction over some of the provisions of the constitution.Sunil Kumar Pokharel, general secretary of NBA, said that the body has already issued circular to its district chapters not to involve in such unethical activities.

"We welcome the new constitution because the charter is good in its basic features and it was endorsed thorough a democratic and participatory process. But we have some dissatisfaction over some of its provisions," said he.

"However, it does not mean we, law practitioners, go to the extent of burning copies of the charter. We have already asked members of our district chapters to refrain from such wrongful act," added he.
