MPRF made such an announcement at a press meet at the Reporters´ Club after a three-day meeting of the party Central Committee (CC) concluded on Saturday.[break]
“There is no point in continuing to support the government as it has failed to fulfill its commitments with regard to the peace process, constitution writing and good governance,” said MPRF Chairman Upendra Yadav at the press conference.
When asked about the next political move of the MPRF, Yadav said, “We will play the role of a constructive opposition.”
He argued that the Madhes-based parties have no moral ground to stay in the government as they have failed to begin the process of recruiting Madhesi youths into the Nepal Army in accordance with the four-point agreement.
“If they [parties associated with the United Democratic Madhesi Front] have even an iota of morality, they must quit the government immediately,” added Yadav.
He stated that they would not accept the constitution without finalizing the issues of state restructuring and federalism.
The CC meeting of MPRF has accused the government of failing to address the issues of security, power shortage, corruption and inflation.
The meeting demanded that the government bring the bill on inclusion immediately. Concluding that the civil servants can not handle the task of the local bodies properly, the meeting also demanded that the government prepare for local elections.
The government has dissolved the all-party mechanism running the local bodies across the country.
Similarly, MPRF has taken an exception to the formation of State Restructuring Commission (SRC) stating that there is no meaning of the constitutional body as the CA Committee on state restructuring has already submitted its report to the CA.
