Speaking to media persons at a tea reception hosted by CPN-UML in Balkhu, the leaders also said the Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai said the current government would not be a hindrance to consensus among the parties. Arguing that it was the responsibility of the political parties to resolve the deadlock, the prime minister also said that he would leave no stone unturned to implement past agreements between the political parties.[break]
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said the parties would begin fresh negotiations from Thursday to resolve the protracted deadlock. He also claimed that the parties will forge consensus by mid-November.
On the occasion, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala demanded that the current government first step down to pave the way for the formation of a national consensus government and CA election. Arguing that fresh election is the only way to resolve the deadlock, Koirala stressed the need for cooperation, unity and consensus among the political parties.
UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal argued that the parties should work toward creating environment conducive to holding fresh polls to end the current deadlock.
The UML has been organizing tea reception on the next day of Kojagrat Purnima every year, giving continuity to the tradition set by then Chairman of the party Manmohan Adhikari. Leaders from various political parties, ministers, foreign envoys, professionals, entrepreneurs, among others, had attended the tea reception.
