Metropolitan Police Circle Office (MPCO), Gaushala had arrested Tharu on Friday over fraud charge following complaints by Nepal Sherpa Sangh.
Tharu had received Rs 3 million, including Rs 1.3 in cash and Rs 1.7 through check, from the association of indigenous Sherpa community to buy tarpaulins from India for earthquake victims within a week. However, he failed to fulfill his commitment and also denied to return the cash he had received.
According to DSP Rakesh Singh, the chief of MPCO, Gaushala, they arrested Tharu on Friday as the Sangh filed written complaints of fraud against Tharu.
"We have presented the case before the Kathmandu District Court today (on Wednesday)," said DSP Singh.
