Dr Sharma had still 2 years´ time left in office. Sharma was serving as the VC of the university for a sixth consecutive tenure.
Following the resignation of VC Sharma, a three-member committee has been formed to recommend the name of new VC. The panel is headed by Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma, and Daman Nath Dhungana and Dr Lok Bikram Thap as its members.
