KATHMANDU, Jan 27: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has launched a uniformity campaign to provide a vibrant look to the historic New Road area.
During the reign of Juddha Shumsher, the area was adorned with three-story white buildings, showcasing its unique charm. However, over the years, New Road had lost its originality due to the construction of grand buildings and the use of various colors and styles, leading to a chaotic appearance.

Now, the metropolis is working to restore the old beauty of New Road by giving it a fresh look and by maintaining uniformity in white and green colors across all buildings.
This campaign has been initiated in 60 houses in Ward No 24. The metropolitan city has moved forward with this plan in agreement with the homeowners. It has been agreed that the homeowners will bear the entire cost of painting the houses. From now on, all buildings in New Road will have white walls, while windows, doors, and shutters will be painted green.
