KIMFF announces short film competition

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Himal Association, Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) and Open Society Foundations officially opened submissions for a short film competition on the theme “Educating Nepal” on Sunday.



Top ten films from 2009’s short film competition on the theme “Climate Change” were screened at the press conference organized at the British Embassy in Lainchour.[break]

 

The competition is open for Nepali filmmakers under the age of 30, till November 9. Documentary films, fiction, animation, or in any experimental art forms are welcomed and should not exceed 5 minutes.



The three best films, which will be decided by a three-member jury, will receive citations, trophies and cash prizes of Rs. 75,000, Rs. 50,000 and 35,000 respectively during KIMFF 2012 Awards Ceremony in December. The top ten films of the competition will be screened at KIMFF, December 7-11.



Speaking at the press conference on Sunday, Director of KIMFF, Ramyata Limbu said “Talking about the age bar in the participants’ criteria, we discussed within our team if this was important at all and concluded that we give young filmmakers a platform.”



“We are looking forward to a lot of fresh and innovative ideas from the participants,” she added.
