Corneal transplant specialists to government: expand transplant across country


Dr Binu Chaudhary, Chief of the Cornea Department at BP Koirala Lions Center for Opthalmic Studies urged the government to pay attention to increase the number of corneal surgeons and medical appliances required for the surgery. More than 70,000 people have already donated eye cornea at Eye Bank posthumously and cornea has been transplanted on 12,500 people so far. 



'Dhaka Topi Day' observed across the country


The 5th National Dhaka Topi Day is being observed across the country Monday with various programs. The theme of the campaign for this year is 'Nepali Topi Nepali Pahichan, Yahi Ho Hamro Rastriya Pahichan' (our national identity. 


Four held for butchering cow


Police have arrested four people on the charge of butchering a cow in Bakaiya Rural Municipality-7, Kandrang, Makawanpur.


Kailali hospitals see increasing patients suffering from cold


Normal life in Kailali district has been affected due to the cold wave accompanied by dense fog. Health workers say that the number of people suffering from pneumonia, cough and cold and pulmonary cases coming to the health institutions seeking treatment has also increased with the fall in temperature. Those most affected by the increasing chill are school kids, the older persons and the daily wage earners.

UK 'faces build-up of plastic waste'


After China banned plastic recycling waste imports, Britain has to quickly look for options. Britain has been shipping up to 500,000 tonnes of plastic for recycling in China every year. China has introduced the ban from this month on "foreign garbage" as part of a move to upgrade its industries.
