Organizing a press conference on Thursday, NAA President Laxman Shrestha said that the three-day long event was organized in order to develop and promote indoor archery in Nepal. "Nepalis are familiar with outdoor archery only and the NAA is dedicated to the development of indoor archery as well among various genres of archery," Shrestha said.[break]
The event will feature five contests each in open and standard bow category. As per the international standard of indoor archery the range will be of 18-meter distance. According to the international standard the archery range should be from 18 meter to 30 meter range. The organizers have expected the participation of 100 archers.
Beginner archers will compete in standard bow category while professional archers will contest in open category. Both the categories will feature men´s and women´s individual contest, men´s and women´s team event and mixed team event contest.
The top three archers of men´s and women´s individual events will win Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively. The top three teams of men´s and women´s team event will bag Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 each. A team event consists of three players. Similarly, the winners of mixed team will be given Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. The expected cost of the event is Rs 880,500, the organizer said.
