Though Indian officials had assured Nepal, on Saturday, to allow movement of cargo trucks through the border points, India allowed trucks carrying only 'other goods' to enter Nepal."Only a bullet of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas was allowed to enter Nepal on Sunday," Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Krishna Adhikari told Republica.
A total of 62 cargo trucks entered the country through Kakarbhitta customs point by Sunday evening. Altogether 69 cargo trucks had entered the country from India through the customs point on Saturday, according to Bhim Prasad Adhikari, chief of Mechi Customs Office.
Meanwhile, petroleum tankers, which have reached Siliguri depot of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) for refilling, are yet to receive any fuel. "IOC officials have told us that they will refill one tanker each of diesel, petrol and kerosene only," Laya Bhandari, chairman of Mechi Petroleum Dealers Association, told Republica.
