KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that the government is aware that the upcoming election of the House of Representatives (HoR) could be affected if the Nepal Police is not adequately resourced.
Speaking at police headquarters to celebrate the 70th Police Day on Friday, Aryal said that his ministry will take concrete steps to equip the police with the necessary resources.

He said that the police often are the target of public perception and reaction towards the government as it is the most responsible law enforcement agency.
Aryal also acknowledged that the Gen Z movement further deteriorated police condition which was resource constrained. Both the institutional and personal property of the police were heavily looted and burned during the protest.
“There is also a responsibility to conduct the election of the House of Representatives on March 5,” Aryal said. “The ministry is aware that if the Nepal Police, which bears the key responsibility for peace and security, is not adequately equipped, its performance will be affected. I assure you that the ministry will take necessary initiatives, and the government will act promptly to address this.”
He also said that the rise of new forms of criminal activity due to technological advancement has made crime investigation more complex and demanding for the police.
