Heritage sites to open for tourists from Monday

BHAKTAPUR, June 13: The heritage sites closed since the April 25 earthquake will be opened for tourists effective coming Monday.

The sites are being opened for observation along with the slogan that 'heritage sites in Bhaktapur are safe' in an appeal to the tourists, said executive officer of Bhaktapur municipality Uddav Rijal.


The tourist fee not applied since the quake will however be applicable from Monday, said Rijal.

A total of 67 heritage sites including temples, sattal, matha, old palaces and the like were completed destroyed while 49 suffered partial damage in the quake. Preliminary estimates by the Municipality said that the reconstruction of the damage heritage sites in Bhaktapur will cost Rs. 293.2 million. RSS
