A DAO team had raided the medicine store of DPHO after it was found that the medicines distributed to one Niraj Panday of Kalaiya Municipality-11 on Friday was of poor quality.[break]
Vitamin B complex tablets given to Pandey were already broken inside the pack three months before their expiry date. The color of the tablets had also changed. Panday had bought the vitamin tablets from Bara District Hospital in Kalaiya.
"Visual inspection of the tablets indicated that they are substandard. We will carry out necessary tests and take action against the responsible authorities if necessary," said Krishna Hari Puskar, the chief district officer. "If the tablets are found to be of substandard quality, we will forward the case to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) as well," he added.
The DAO said the tablet sample has been sent for tests.
According to Puskar, similar complaints were reported at Hetauda-based medical store of the Central Regional Health Directorate.
Distribution of medicines at DPHO, Bara, has been stopped after the raid.
