Girl with rare condition gets financial support

CHARIKOT, Sept 11: Nine-year-old Bhawana Thami of Kalinchowk, Dolakha who is recovering from a rare condition called hypertrichosis (abnormal amount of hair growth on the body), received financial support worth Rs 75,100 on Tuesday.



The sum includes Rs 25,000 contribution from photographer Narendra Shrestha and contributions from Mega Bank Executive Director Anil Shah and Germany-Nepal Liaison Office Chairman Sharan KC.[break]



The money has been deposited at Charikot branch of Manakamana Development and the interest will be used for the child´s education. Chief District Officer of Dolakha, Kali Prasad Parajuli handed over the deposit slip to the girl in Charikot on Tuesday.check o



Thami´s photo with abnormal facial hair taken by Shrestha was published in a leading newspaper while she was undergoing surgery for the condition at Model Hospital, Kathmandu, last year. The photo was adjudged first in Mega Bank Photo Competition a few months ago.
