KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has expressed confident that the Election Commission (EC) has no authority to declare the party’s special general convention unlawful.
Presenting the political report at the party’s special general convention on Monday, Thapa said the convention is fully in line with Nepal’s constitutional and legal framework governing political parties. “The NC statute is approved by EC under the Political Parties Act, which is based on the Constitution of Nepal,” Thapa said. “Therefore, EC cannot at any cost declare this special general convention unlawful.”
