KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa said on Tuesday that the party’s Special General Convention has sent a clear message that the NC is ready to change, asserting that a transformed party can lead national transformation.
Addressing concerns raised during the closed session, Thapa said the convention reflected the party’s resolve for renewal. “Through this Special General Convention, we have demonstrated our commitment to change the NC, and a changed NC can change the country,” he said.

Thapa added that discussions were held by treating absent leaders as if they were present. “Our respected party president, acting president, several district presidents and some convention delegates could not attend. Even so, we conducted discussions as though they were present in these chairs,” he said.
He also stressed that deliberations at Bhrikutimandap were not held along factional lines. “We are not discussing issues as groups or factions, but as one unified Nepali Congress,” Thapa said.
Rejecting claims that the Special General Convention had harmed the party, Thapa maintained that the gathering had taken no steps detrimental to the NC.
