Speaking at a program in the capital today, Gajurel said, “If he [Baidya] does not apologize, mend his ways, the party will take action against him. And if the party fails to do so, there lies the end of the very existence of the party.”[break]
Gajurel also accused Baidya of creating hurdles in the peace and constitution drafting process. “The tussle in the party now is between those wanting and those not wanting to see a logical conclusion of the peace process and constitution writing,” he said.
He further claimed that a section of leaders in the Baidya faction is hell-bent on splitting the party. “Even within the Baidya group, there are two sections of leaders. One wants to break away and the other wants to fight keeping the party intact. If this continues, the small section might break away,” he added.
The Maoist leader however said much about the intactness of the party will depend upon how the Baidya faction will present itself in the Standing Committee meeting.
