KATHMANDU, June 30: Katha Mitho Sarangiko (KMS) has been a part of approximately eight million listeners’ Friday night fare since February 2008.

A traveling radio drama which uses plays as a medium of discussing various issues in the society, KMS has successfully aired plays based on the Peace Process, Constitution writing, and on June 28, concluded their drama series on gender-based violence.[break]

To celebrate the commencement of a new series on Good Governance, BBC Media Action, which is the producer of KMS, released a compilation of three of KMS plays.

“We work in creating these plays, which, though effective, have the tendency to be forgotten over time. By publishing this book, we hope it’ll be useful for future generations,” informed Khagendra Lamichhane, the director of the plays.

The book titled “Katha Mitho Sarangiko Bhalakusari” also includes interviews taken while preparing “Sarangiko Bhalakusari,” a radio magazine.

Pushpa Basnet, the founder of Early Childhood Development Center and a CNN Hero nominee of 2012, was the chief guest at the event held in the Moksh Live Restaurant in Jhamsikhel where she also released “Ringdai Ghumdai,” a CD of Prakash Gandarbha who is the narrator of KMS.

Two music videos based on the plays and directed by Shivani Singh Tharu were also shown at the event.

KMS’s fourth series will focus on Good Governance with Grandmother’s Tales.

KMS airs every Friday at 8:15 pm on 103 FM and Sarangiko Bhalakusari airs every Saturday at the same time and station.
