Former PM Koirala congratulates Nepali football team

Kathmandu, Jan 23: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala today congratulated the national football team for bringing home the Bangabandhu Gold Cup from Dhaka in Bangladesh.

In a statement, Koirala on behalf of himself and NC also congratulated the coach and the entire team for helping achieve the success in the international football, ending the 23-year international title drought. He also expressed commitment to giving his best in helping promote Nepali football in the days to come.


In the final held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday, Nepal defeated Bahrain U-23 team by 3-0 to bring home the trophy. The last time Nepal had won an international title was during South Asian Games held in 1993 in the same venue. RSS
