In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the five Nepali citizens were released by an Iranian court, after which they were repatriated to Kathmandu with the assistance of Nepal’s honorary consulate in Tehran and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The return of these individuals was part of a broader evacuation effort launched after tensions escalated between Iran and Israel in June. The five Nepalis had been among those detained in Iranian prisons.
Earlier, when India carried out an evacuation of its own citizens from Iran, it also facilitated the return of nine Nepalis who were in the country at that time.
