Five aftershocks recorded Thursday morning

KATHMANDU, May 28: The National Seismological Center (NSC) said five aftershocks of the April 25 Gorkha Earthquake have been recorded on Thursday morning.

A 4-magnitide temblor with epicenter in Kathmandu jolted Kathmandu valley and neighboring districts at 5:12 am this morning.


Before the seism, two mild earthquakes measuring 4 on the Richter scale occurred at 3:40 am and 3:07 am making Gokha/Dhading as epicenter.

Likewise, 4.2-magnitide aftershocks were recorded at 5:29 am and 11:36 am. The epicenter of both the quake was Dolakha district, NSC said.



According to police, 8,677 people have been killed and 21,985 injured in the devastating quake and subsequent aftershocks as of 10 am this morning.
