Finance ministry allocates budget for Maoist combtants

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: The Ministry of Finance has allocated budget to provide to the former Maoist combatants not selected for integration and opting for voluntary retirement.



The distribution of financial package for the combatants will take place from Friday itself, said Madhubilas Pundit, Officiating Secretary at the Special Committee Secretariat.[break]



According to Officiating Secretary Pundit, the Ministry has allocated Rs. 819.59 million with a view to concluding the peace process. Combatants eligible for the package will be paid in lump sum, it is learnt.



The junior commissioned officers will get an adieu from the respective camps whereas the officer level fighters will get a farewell from the Nepal Army School at Chitwan. They will get Rs. 500,000 to 800,000 along with travel expense.



Combatants from the Terai region will get additional Rs. 2,000, those from the hilly region will get Rs.5,000 and combatants from mountainous region will get Rs. 8,000 as travel expense.



Meanwhile, the selection round of the integration of combatants of officer level into the NA is going on at NA School, Chitwan. A total of 1,56combatants have filled up forms for the integration to the post of junior commissioned officer while 1,600 combatants have chosen voluntary retirement.
