Fast-unto-death for additional budget

BARDIBAS, Jan 31: A political activist has staged fast-unto-death in district headquarters Jaleswor putting forward 10-point demands including arrangement of additional budget for the construction of embankment in both sides along the Ratu River.



District member of Terai-Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), Suresh Pandey staged hunger strike since Tuesday morning, under the banner of Public Welfare Stakeholders Forum demanding special budget for the conservation of forest, soil erosion and ecological protection. [break]



Among the other demands are immediate establishment of Manipal College in Jaleswor, shifting all the district-based government offices to the headquarters and establishment of branch offices of Inland Revenue Office and Transport Office in Jaleswor.



A five-member team is to stage 24-hour relay strike in support of Pandey, the Forum informed.
