Chaudhary apparently has ample support of people in the Far Western Region. A national record holder in athletics, Chaudhary has been attending functions organized by the locals as well as schools and colleges of her home town to appeal for votes.[break]
On Saturday, locals of Lamki organized a felicitation program for Chaudhary and she has already appealed for voting in Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, Tikapur, Guleria, Belaouri and Fulbari.
“I have received warm response from the locals,” said Chaudhary, adding, “I am confident of winning the award after getting such response.”
Locals have formed different committees and sub committees to generate support for her. They have also placed billboards at main centers of Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, Tikapur and Guleria. Local FM Station have also been appealing their listeners to vote in her favor.
Chaudhary had broken the national record after 25 years in 400 meter hurdles with the timing of 1 minute 8.8 seconds during the Sixth National Games held in Dhangadhi. The previous record was in the name of Chandrakala Kamat. Chaudhary also broke the national record in 100 meter hurdles. She bagged gold in 400 meter relay, silver medal in 100 meter relay and bronze medal in 200 meter.
Along with Chaudhary, Aslesha Lissanevitch of tennis, Shakti Gauchan of cricket, Bharat Khawas of Football and Ramila Tandukar of volleyball were nominated for the popular player of the year category. The winner of this category will be announced on July 4, the day of the award. A player who receives maximum number of votes through SMS and landline phone will be declared winner.
