BAGLUNG, Sept 22: Ex-king Gyanendra Shah arrived here in the district as part of his religious trip, on Saturday.
He visited the local Kalika Temple and offered his prayers today. Hundreds of cadres of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal received the former monarch in the district.[break]
He was escorted by more than 300 motorbikes on the way while traveling to Baglung from Pokhara.
He is also scheduled to visit the Gayatri Temple in Parbat district later in the day.
On Friday, Shah’s scheduled visit to Galeshwor temple in Myagdi was cancelled following a Myagdi banda called by various political parties to foil his trip.
The former monarch is currently on a weeklong ‘religious trip’ to Gandaki and Dhaulagiri zones. He had reached Pokhara on Thursday and stayed at Fishtail Lodge at Lakeside.
Questioning the motive behind Shah’s visit, various political parties have been holding protest programs with intent of barring him from visiting their districts.
Shah is scheduled to visit various religious sites in Kaski, Myagdi, Parbat, Baglung, Tanahun and Syangja districts during his tour.
