KATHMANDU, July 23: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Shakti Bahadur Basnet has departed from Kathmandu to participate in the fifth meeting of the Regional Committee of the International Solar Alliance to be held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
A three-member team led by Minister Basnet left for the meeting today. The meeting is scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi from July 24 to July 26. ISA member countries, potential member countries from the Asia Pacific region and partner organizations will participate in the meeting.

The agreement related to the International Solar Alliance (ISA), established as a joint effort of India and France, will help the member countries to use solar energy technologies to increase energy access, ensure energy security, guide energy development and reduce the impact of climate change.
It is said that the alliance will help in getting investment and financial and technical support from the international sector for the development of the renewable energy sector in Nepal.
