KATHMANDU, Feb 24: After showing 'Ek Pana Sahar' in Mumbai, Theater Pragya is now gearing to take the play to another city in India. The play was shown at the Mumbai International Children's Festival of Performing Arts on January 7. 'Ek Pana Sahar' will now be staged in Kolkata on February 26.

The 50-minute long play is conceptualized, designed and directed by Tanka Chaulagain. It tells the story of Sandeep who is the only child of his parents. He is introduced to the audience as a class five student who is already practiced at getting all his demands fulfilled by his parents. He falls into bad company from a young age and then spirals out of control as he grows older. When he reaches high school, he finds himself friendless and scared of going home, he is forced to live on the streets. At the end of the play, he is hungry and full of repentance.

Aasutosh Sapkota plays Sandeep in this solo act play. It has made the most of gestures and body language to convey messages instead of using long conversations. Animals such as dogs, cats, crows, snakes, and tigers have also been used to indicate the time lapse in the story. Similarly, the use of the character's school tie also shows his growing years.
