Buddha Bahadur Moktan is a 29-year-old taxi driver. He is currently living in Khokana Lalitpur with his family of seven, including his parents, wife and three daughters.
Originally from Jinakhu VDC of Sindhuli district, he came to Kathmandu 14 years ago and started working as help at a hotel. After about five months, Buddha moved on to driving taxis. He has not completed his primary level education.

He then went to Saudi Arabia for employment and worked there for seven years as a driver. He later decided to return to Nepal for good as he believes working hard can earn you enough money anywhere in the world.
His days start from eight in the morning and last till 11 at night. “While some passengers are rude, others simply refuse to pay the promised amount upon reaching their destination. It is difficult for me to cover the cost if I have to return from a place without passengers,” he said.
Buddha also mentioned about the lack of proper parking space for taxis in Kathmandu. His immediate goal in life is to pay the loan that he’d taken for the taxi. Buddha said he is determined to work hard for the loan payment, and if he doesn’t earn enough he would again try foreign employment.
