DANG, Dec 30: Normal life which had been affected in all mid-western districts including Dang since Friday morning due to the strike called by ex-Maoist combatants who were disqualified for integration into national army has bounced back to life.
Academic institutions, transport services, industries and marketplaces had remained closed in those districts including Rukum, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Surkhet, Dailekh, Kalikot and Jajarkot due to the strike called to press for the removal for the tag of disqualification. [break]
The agitating ex-combatants had said the state ´disgracefully´ sent them out of the cantonments. They had also demanded that proper livelihood arrangements be made for them and the funds by the UN meant for them be made public.
Vehicles delivering emergency services including those belonging to hospitals, fire brigades, tourists, human rights organizations, diplomatic missions and the press, however, had been allowed on the road.
On Thursday, the agitators had enforced banda in the far-western districts. They have also called a general shutdown for January 5.
