The report shows that out of total population, 513,321 have disability that includes physical and mental disability, blindness, deafness, speech problem and others. Among them186, 457 have physical disability and 30,997 have mental disability. Thanks to 10 year-long conflicts, which contributed to more than 8,000 physical disability and thousands of mental impairement.
The report however, shows that more males have physical disability compare to females, but the number of mentally disabled are almost the same. The report shows that 108,279 male and 78,179 female are physically impaired and 16,787males and 14,210 female have mental disability. Likewise, there are more disable people living in urban areas.
Likewise, 94,765 people, 47,041 male and 47,724 female are either blind or have milited vision. 79,307 are deaf or have some kind of hearing problems and 9,436 are both deaf and blind. The report shows that 14,888 have intellectual disability and 38,616 others are suffering from multiple disabilities.
The NDF says that the census shows far less number of people having disability that earlier believed. "We expected three to five percent of the population were disabled but the census shows far less," said Nim Bahadur Budathoki, president of NDF.
